2019 Kia Sorento vs 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL
For drivers needing to transport a lot of humans, and likely a lot of cargo as well, three-row SUVs are the place to look. One that gets particular (and well-deserved) attention is the 2019 Kia Sorento. The 2019 Sorento is lauded for its power, value, technology, and comfort.
But it's not the only three-row on the market. Prospective buyers might also be tempted to take a look at the 2019 Santa Fe XL, the current three-row variation of Hyundai’s best-selling SUV. Hyundai redesigned the Santa Fe for 2019 as a two-row SUV, but this redesign does not apply to the Santa Fe XL, which is actually a renamed continuation of the 2018 Santa Fe. Yes, it’s confusing.
Since the 2019 Kia Sorento is a thoroughly three-row model, we pitted it against the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL to help decide which vehicle is right for you.
The 2019 Sorento amazes out of the gate with its significantly lower MSRP, coming in at nearly $4,000 less than the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL. So where’s the catch?
There isn’t one. The 2019 Kia Sorento is fitted with a stylish exterior and satisfying performance ability. And things inside are no less impressive: a silky ride, cushy seating, and premium cabin ring all the right bells, while a proliferation of seamlessly integrated technology toots the happy whistle. This high quality keeps us all the more impressed with that eye-popping (in a good way) starting price.
With it’s superior fuel economy, the 2019 Kia Sorento will continue to save you money as you drive. Add in Kia’s excellent warranty and reliability, and you’ve got what some might call an unbeatable value on your hands.
We feel a bit bad for Hyundai; the value of the 2019 Kia Sorento is pretty hard for anything to go up against. With not much changing besides its name, 2019 Santa Fe XL is certainly showing its age. It just can’t compete with the expertly and economically engineered 2019 Kia Sorento.
